Sustainable Artisanal Mining (SAM) Project by Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development (SDC) wishes to solicit proposals from national institutions, NGOs and consultants’ team to provide “Livelihood Asset Assessment baseline surveys” in artisanal and small scale mining (ASM) eight soums in order to improve understanding of the cultural, social, economic, political, governance, environmental and technological dynamics of ASM and its impacts, and for further analysis and monitoring.

The Livelihoods Assets baseline survey shall cover and assess the following five types of assets (Assets Pentagon) and develop indicators accordingly:
1. Natural resources (natural capital)
2. Physical infrastructure and assets (physical capital)
3. Monetary resources (financial capital)
4. Manpower with different skills (human capital)
5. Social networks of various kinds (social capital)
6. ASM operational level indicators
7. Comparison of National level indicators and ASM community level indicators

The following minimum qualifications but not limited are expected for carrying-out the services:
1. Any entity duly incorporated under the laws of Mongolia
2. Interdisciplinary collaborative team members rather than collection of individuals with certain skills are preferred
3. Background of the team members shall be social sciences especially social and cultural anthropology with mix of other relevant disciplines
4. Experience of conducting researches and survey on grassroots livelihoods and with ASM.
5. Capacity to conduct field works in accordance with necessary methodology and to analyze data and write report in Mongolian and English.
