SAM Project in cooperation with a NGO Center for Community Development organized training "Community Facilitation Process" for ASMs and local government officials in project sites Jargalant & Bumbugur soums of Bayankhongor aimag, Bornuur of Tov aimag, and Mandal soum of Selenge aimag in July-September, 2008. Main purpose of training was to provide necessary information on faciliation among ASM communities and organizational forms (e.g. unregistered partnerships or miners' groups) according to the temporary regulation of ASM in the country. As a result of training, there are 7 partnerships (a partnership has 7-15 members in average) established in Jargalant soum of Bayankhongor aimag and 14 partnerships in Bornuur of Tov aimag. Additionally, SAM project has selected local community facilitators in its project sites. A year ago or in November 2007, an ASM Association was established by artisanal miners of Bornuur soum of Tov aimag. At the moment the Association has over 100 members. In connection to one year anniversary, the Association has produced a documentary about what it has achieved and what are being proposed in the future. The documentary was shown during the aniversary meeting with local communities and authorities. Please download its detailed report. |
