During the official visit by Mr. Andre Bugnon, Swiss Parliament President, to Mongolia, a Multilateral agreement on collaboration for mercury and cyanide free ASM development in Bornuur area between Government of Mongolia, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Centerra Gold Mongolia LLC, Government of Bornuur Soum of Tuv Aimag, and Bornuur Artisanal Miners Association was signed in Bornuur soum of Tov aimag.

Agreement between the Mineral Resource and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation on implementation of Sustainable Artisanal Mining Project Main Phase (2007-2010) was signed.

The Sustainable Artisanal Mining Project will contribute to the development of responsible mining in Mongolia by working with all stakeholders to ensure that artisanal miners are recognized as responsible members of key economic sub-sector contributing to sustainable rural development.

Memorandum on Understanding on cooperation between SAM Project and Mining Processing Industry in Bor Undur was signed. SAM Project and Bor Undur Mining Processing Industry will cooperate for development of fluorspar ASM model and capacity building of mining rescue unit of the industry for fluorspar ASMs in the eastern region of Mongolia (Khentii and Dornogovi Aimags).

Cooperation agreement on execution of ASM Operational Safety was signed by the SAM Project and Mining Rescue Service. Under the agreement the Parties will cooperate for assistance in organization of Artisanal and Small Scale Miners (ASMs) and delivery of ASM occupational safety instructions and training in order to transform artisanal mining into small scale mining level. Additionally the Parties will cooperate in effective running of mobile rescue unit and Training and Information Center that were established during the project orientation phase, inspection of ASM operational safety conditions on sites, and delivery of training and awareness on safety issues to ASMs and local rescuers.
